Intimate Backyard Wedding
Meet Ashley and Zack.
They met 3 years ago when Ashley started a meet up group called “outdoor adventures group for young adults”. Zack had just moved to San Diego from Florida he got new orders to be stationed in Coronado. During their ceremony, their officiant (Zack’s previous youth leader) reflect on how Zack was just looking to make friends when he scrolling through Meet Up. Then, he saw Ashley’s picture and thought she looked cute and decided to come to her first meet up event. The event was a beach day at Powerhouse Park in Del Mar. From that moment they instantly clicked and have been inseparable.
Ashley’s story was a little different. Ashley was looking for just a friend. That friend was Zack. Their friendship eventually blossomed into a beautiful Christ-rooted relationship. While planning their wedding, I asked Ashley what made their relationship unique. Ashley shared that they make each other laugh to the point where they’re stomach hurts. She also giggled that they have no personal space with one another and are constantly holding hands or hugging or kissing. Ashley and Zack have gone through 2 deployments and several exercises and know the true definition of what it means to be a military couple. They love doing spontaneous and adventurous things together and spend many of their weekends driving to the mountains.
Zack proposed to Ashley at the beach they first met. He created an aisle of Ashley’s favorite flowers–sunflowers. As Zack proposed Ashley and Zack were surrounded by hundreds of random people watching and cheering as he got down on one knee.
Zack and Ashley’s personality showed during their wedding day from all the details and the people they chose to attend. Ashley and Zack exchanged I Do’s under a mature tree in Ashley’s grandparent’s backyard. They were surrounded by so much love, the presence of the Holy Spirit filled the air, and were surrounded by deep and genuine friendships. You could feel the love that surrounded them. I mean, just look at the photos and you can see for yourself. Ashley’s dad reflected back on Ashley’s childhood with eyes welling with tears shared all the love he had for her. If you find someone who looks at you the way Zack looks at Ashley–LOCK THEM DOWN! There were so many moment’s from Zack and Ashley’s intimate backyard wedding that brought me to tears. It was just an honor to capture Zack and Ashley’s backyard wedding and watching their family’s join together and surround them with so much authentic love. From the moment myself and my assistant walked through the door, we were welcomed and showed their hospitality.
Zack and Ashley’s adventurous soul’s made an appearance when I told them where we were going to do their romantics. The fact that they trusted me still blows my mind. I wish I did a pull back so I can show you what was behind them but picture this. A driveway and at the end a house covered with a orange, blue, red striped tent. At the edge of this driveway, was an overlook of these large trees and mountain views. I stopped my car and said “okay, guys! Here is our spot”. They laughed but they trusted me. Would you have even guessed that’s where we did their romantics? It still blows my mind.
This romantic intimate backyard wedding was such an honor to be apart of. I am still just giddy I was able to have Zack and Ashley in front of my lens. I hope you love these as much as I do.
