favorite feature of a+m’s elegant rustic white barn wedding at Under the Wildwood:
I absolutely loved A+M’s unique color palette for a winter wedding. Plus, the pinecones in her bridal bouquet *chef’s kiss*. It was such a unique touch.
Winter weddings are HARD due to several factors but mainly the sun sets SOOOO dang early. M+A continuously trusted me when it came to their timeline to ensure we had ample time to get everything they valued (plus more) captured. (See pro tips below)
Lastly, I feel like this doesn’t even need to be said but I absolutely loved how their included their fur baby — Ollie.
Pro tips for winter weddings:
Winter weddings are gorgeous. However, they take some additional planning due to the sunset time. The hardest part is sunset typically sets around 5p.
This means that all your portraits have to be done prior to that time if you are dreaming of those yummy natural light portraits. So, unless you’re planning a late afternoon ceremony, you’ll want to do a first look prior to the ceremony.
A+M really wanted a sunset ceremony, so, to accommodate the fact the sun set was at 5pm, we did a first look and all their photos besides family formals prior to the ceremony. That way after the ceremony all we had to accomplish was family formals. Since they had a smaller family photo list we had a little extra time for some fun blue hour photos.
Tip 1: Make sure your ceremony time is scheduled with giving you ample time for portraits with natural light. There is nothing worse than feeling rushed on your wedding day.
Tip 2: Weather is always unpredictable. Be prepared for it to be freezing, windy, raining, or even snowing. This means making sure to have enough time scheduled for breaks to warm up.
Tip 3: If you’ve been following me for awhile you won’t be surprised by this one. Trust your photographer when it comes to your timeline. They ultimately have your best interest when they’re making suggestions regarding your photographic timeline.
