Intimate Destination Wedding at Southernmost Beach Resort in Key West, Florida
Before I even share this intimate destination wedding at Southernmost Beach Resort in Key West, Florida….I need to paint the picture on how I even got there. The week leading up to the wedding Hurricane Nicole made it’s appearance into the forecast. The day of my flight to Key West from Dallas, 3.5 hours before my flight, it was canceled. 3 more rescheduled flights…all canceled.
Finally, I decided to fly into Fort Myers LATE Wednesday night. Then, drive almost 6 hours to Key West. I vividly remember laying in my hotel room Wednesday, tracking Hurricane Nicole. Um, please remember, this girl is from California and now Texas. I haven’t EVER had to track a hurricane before. Honestly, I didn’t know what I was looking at. I just prayed that when I woke up…the skies were clear enough to drive the almost six hours to Key West.
Clearly, I made it to Key West with plenty of time before M+L’s welcome dinner. The rest of the weekend was absolutely amazing with the most beautiful Florida humidity and clear skies. No rain. No hurricane. Beautiful clear skies. It made for such a beautiful day for a wedding at Southernmost Beach Resort with gorgeous views of the bright blue ocean.

“There really aren’t words to explain our experience with Kyrsten. 4 days before our destination wedding in Key West, hurricane Nicole threatened to ruin everything. Kyrsten stayed calm and assured me that no matter what she had to do, she would make it to our wedding… even if it meant she had to drive from DALLAS. After a wild couple of days, several canceled flights, she was able to fly into to Ft. Myers… where she proceeded to then drive SIX HOURS to be with us! When I tell you there was nothing stopping this woman, I’m not kidding! She will literally stop at nothing and go above and beyond to fulfill her contract… a true professional.
The day of our wedding, I was so impressed with her ability to keep me calm (nearly impossible if you know me!) and keep my whole family on task as we were getting ready. She built a timeline that we were comfortable with and she ensured that all of my vendors stayed on time. She was basically the “air traffic controller” of our wedding day on top of delivering the most beautiful gallery we could have asked for. Our photos are STUNNING and we still can’t believe all that she did to be there for us that weekend!

The moment I remember the most that continuously makes me smile is how L+M did a first look with L’s son and daughter. The reactions of the kids seeing L+M was the most heartwarming, loving, reaction. I would be lying if I didn’t say I didn’t cry when L saw her son for the first time. It was truly a day about two families blending together to form one. The whole day was intimate filled with their nearest and dearest family & friends. Everyone was there to celebrate M+L to the fullest.
The tent reception on the beach with gold cavalier chairs with tropical floral table decor made for the most beautiful modern elegant reception. Plus, it’s not very often this California girl gets to shoot a wedding reception on the beach anymore. Oh, and you can’t forget the blow up instruments that showed up during the dance party. It was absolutely epic.
Lastly, the Old Town Trolley ride that ended the day. L+M and all their friends jumped on the trolley as we did a tour of Key West to their afterparty. 10/10 recommend. It was the quintessential ending to their Key West wedding.
