Your engagement session is the first chapter of your wedding story. A moment to slow down, savor connection, and capture the quiet intimacy between two people choosing forever. For this couple, whose wedding will be celebrated at the iconic Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, their engagement session at the Dallas Arboretum was nothing short of magical.
N + J met on Hinge, have shared 1.5 years of laughter, tender moments, and a deep, effortless connection. Their private, thoughtful proposal came after a quiet dinner, followed by a walk through a park that had been the backdrop to an early date. It was intimate, understated, and perfectly them.
The Arboretum offers endless opportunities for romantic, editorial, and lifestyle imagery. From sweeping gardens and seasonal blooms to fountains and hidden walkways, it feels like a secret escape in the heart of Dallas.
Sunrise is my favorite time to photograph here. The gardens are quiet, the light is soft and golden, and popular areas like the Women’s Garden and Sunken Garden are virtually empty. This timing also allows for more freedom to explore tucked-away paths, bridges, and water features, creating a rich variety of images.
Additionally, the Arboretum is ideal for couples who want more than traditional engagement photos. You can treat it like a date—set up a picnic, bring your favorite books, or simply wander the gardens hand in hand while I capture your connection. This approach turns your session into an experience rather than just a photoshoot.

For this session, she wore a textured, fitted white mid-shin tank dress—timeless and elegant. This allowed for natural movement while highlighting her figure. He wore tan linen pants with a breezy white-and-light-blue striped button-down, creating a relaxed, warm, and harmonious pairing. Together, they felt like a perfect reflection of their love: thoughtful, connected, and full of ease.
Book sunrise or weekdays: Avoid crowds and enjoy soft, flattering light.
Plan outfits thoughtfully: Neutral or soft tones complement the gardens without competing with the scenery.
Variety of spaces: Explore multiple areas within the Arboretum for a rich gallery: Women’s Garden, Sunken Garden, bridges, fountains, and hidden paths.
Add personal touches: Bring meaningful items—books, flowers, or picnic props—for playful, intimate moments.
