I knew this session was going to be amazing when I received their couples questionnaire back. As soon as I started reading, I couldn’t stop screaming “these are my kind of people”. I couldn’t stop laughing while reading and squealing “heck yeaaaass this Sunset Cliffs session is going to be epic”. I knew from the get go that this Sunset Cliffs session was going to be full of adventure and laughter.

Meet Marco + Whitney. Self proclaimed “water people”. I don’t think I have ever seen two people want to get into the water as much as these two. When I met them at Sunset Cliffs, I felt like I had known them both for years! I don’t think I have laughed as hard as I did during their session. These two are so incredibly silly together but you can tell just how much they love and care for one another. You know the song “Slow Hands”? That song played on repeat when I was editing this Sunset Cliffs session. They could not keep their hands off of each other the whole time. Funny thing is, Whitney and Marco both told me they were nervous. Honestly, I would have never known because they were so natural in front of the camera! They were constantly making fun of each other, playing with one another, and touching each other.

It truly is my favorite part of photographing couples. Each couple is so unique. Their love is different. The way a couple speaks love to one another is going to look different each and every time. I am so honored every time a couple invites me into their space and document their love. This is exactly why I implement questionnaires. As Ben Hartley says, “pretty pics aren’t good enough anymore. I want your photos to represent you. That means I need to get to know you, your needs, and your values driving those”.
