From the beginning, I knew Kyrsten was going to be the only photographer I wanted for my wedding. I found her on Instagram from another photographer acquaintance before I even got engaged and the second I started planning she was my first call.
In the initial call, she made us comfortable, laid out all the details, and got to know us to make sure we were a good fit. She takes the time to understand what your goals are for your wedding photography rather than just giving you a preset package and making your wedding fit that. It was super important for me to have family formals taken at my wedding and she made sure we had time in the schedule for it.
The day of was as smooth as it could possibly be with Kyrsten! We were ahead of schedule with all the photos and got to take soooo many romantics. I get uncomfortable taking photos but not once did I feel that with her. Her prompts were fun and easy to follow and her vision was incredible! It really felt like hanging out with my husband and friends just taking pictures.
The delivery… I literally can’t say enough of how stunning everything looked! She is so talented and it is so clear when you see your photos. I can’t stop staring at my photos and can’t wait to get them printed in an album and to hang on our walls. She made this stressful experience of a wedding so easy and fun and I cannot even imagine my wedding without her!”
s+j advice to wedding planning couples:
Create a separate wedding email. It was incredible being able to see it all in one place without the worry of it going to junk mail.
Get vendors you vibe with and trust, especially photographer and planner. They are the people telling you what to do and where to be the day of so to would suck if you didn’t like them.
Give someone else your cell or put it away. If the guests didn’t look at the details you gave them in advance, that’s not your problem.
Bring makeup wipes for the groom. After every kiss, especially with a dark lipstick, the poor guy had red lips!
favorite feature of s+j’s elegant nerdy wedding at Dove Ridge Vineyard:
To be fully transparent, when S+J told me that they were going to have “nerdy” details such as Marvel characters, Harry Potter, ect as part of the wedding, I was nervous. However, as soon as I walked into Dove Ridge Vineyard ballroom my mouth hit the floor. Not only did it SCREAM S+J but it was done in such a tasteful, elegant, modern way.
S+J knew a winter wedding could be challenging especially with the sun setting earlier. We discussed extensively about their timeline to make sure that we had enough time to get all their photos done but also allow them to bask in their day. We had so much extra time throughout the day. It made for the whole day to feel relaxed and fun!
Ice cream instead of cake? Need I say more. Sold.
