WHY EVERY BRIDE SHOULD SCHEDULE A BRIDAL SESSION

Bridal sessions are one of the most misunderstood pre-wedding day sessions. A bridal session is when the bride gets dressed up in her wedding attire for portraits 1 to 2 months before the wedding. The portraits are kept secret until the wedding day, and often times a large print is displayed at the wedding reception. However, bridal sessions serve many purposes. They allow you to twirl around like a star in your gown for a little longer. Bridal session also allow you have even more dreamy photos in your stunning gown while also taking pressure off the wedding day. Here are four reasons why every bride needs to schedule a bridal session!

Decide whether you want to change anything about your final look.

One reason every bride needs to schedule a bridal session is for an insurance policy for your wedding day look. During your bridal session, you have the opportunity to see all the elements put together — hair, makeup, jewelry, veil, shoes, bouquet, and of course, the dress. It is the perfect time to take advantage of your hair and makeup trial and floral mock-up. It allows you to make sure you are completely in LOVE with your wedding day look or gives you the opportunity to decide if you want to make any changes to your bridal look.

Another reason to schedule a bridal session is it allows you to reaaaaaally try on your dress. Okay, you’re probably thinking I’ve tried on my dress at least 3 maybe 4 times while standing in front of multiple mirrors. You’ve probably even walked around the bridal boutique and twirled around several times. Bridal sessions allow you to walk around, sit, and twirl in your dress before the wedding. It’s a wonderful time to make sure your dress fits just right or if a specific alternation is needed.  Also, a bridal session will let you know if you’re going to be comfortable and the best way to walk in your wedding dress.

Take advantage of a second location.

There is no rule about bridal session locations. Oftentimes, your venue will allow you to schedule your bridal session there, but you don’t have to! A bridal session is the perfect opportunity to receive a gorgeous set of wedding images in a different location that may not be possible on the wedding day. The sky is the limit for your bridal session. Heck, you can even have a destination bridal session! My passport is ready.

Low pressure.

You will hear me say over and over that wedding day’s are a wonderful whirlwind that goes by way too fast. Trust me. My own wedding day went by in a flash. Bridal sessions allow us to get those dreamy bridal portraits in a low pressure setting.  You’ll still have photos taken of just you on your wedding day, but a bridal session is a chance to get extra special photos without being worried about your timeline.

Get comfy.

Bridal sessions, much like engagement sessions, help get you more comfortable in front of the camera and with your photographer. Bridal sessions are a relaxed and stress free setting to explore how to pose, walk, and sometimes even breath in your wedding dress. Also, this is another opportunity to get to know your photographer that way the day of they feel like just an old friend. That way on your wedding day, the photography jitters will be non-existent. This will help maximize the available time to get the best portraits possible the day of!
