Close your eyes and imagine going through your wedding album in 2, 5…heck 10 years. What do you see? Who do you see? What memories and stories are dancing around your head? You’ve spent the last 12 to 18 months planning this day that feels like it’s over in a blink. This is why I am passionate about producing images that bring you back to the sweetest day in your life. Images that transport you back to the look in your eyes when you said “I do”, to seeing your love’s reaction when they first saw you, to seeing grandma let loose on the dance floor. I believe heirloom wedding albums are best way for you to remember your wedding day. Much more than just the details, but help you remember the way you felt on your wedding day. Heck, I don’t believe my job as your wedding photographer is even over until the moment your heirloom album hits your hands.
I can picture all my couples sitting on a couch together before they go to celebrate their anniversary, reminiscing over moments on their wedding day that were magical. Or, even better, sharing with their children or grandchildren, sharing stories of their wedding day, of people who are no longer with us, and sharing where they came from.
Your wedding album is so much more than just a book. It’s a tangible visual history of your wedding day. It’s what your future kids and grandkids will pull out to cherish the memories and hear about your wedding day. And, perhaps even have a laugh over today’s fashion and trends. I know I certainly did looking through my grandparents wedding album. Now, here are the top 5 reasons I firmly believe all couples deserve an heirloom wedding album.
Top 5 Reasons Why an Heirloom Album is a “Must Have”
Easier to Share with Family + Friends
Your loved ones don’t want to sift through hundreds to thousands of photos in a digital gallery. Let’s face it, going through your digital gallery can become overwhelming. There’s a lot of moments that happen during a wedding day. An album allows your wedding story to be told in a bite size, digestible story. Also, I can guarantee that your loved ones would rather gather around in a comfortable space rather than scrolling on a computer/cell phone to relive the moments of your wedding day story.
Technology is Constantly Changing and Unreliable
Remember VHS? Heck, what about DVD’s? Hard drives crash (knock on wood on that one…). We’re constantly upgrading our cellphones. Thumb drives are constantly getting lost…or washed (don’t trust me with a thumb drive). I can go on and on about this one. Yes, backup your wedding photos in several different places. However, when technology fails, you’ll still have a tangible copy of your most important memories.
Online Galleries Can be Overwhelming
As mentioned above, you may get hundreds up to a thousand images back. That’s a lot. An album designer, like my album assistant Chelsea, will help you choose the best images that will showcase your wedding story in a much manageable way.
Heirloom Albums are Built to Last
The number one argument I often hear is that professionally designed albums are often much more expensive than online album companies. While that is true, you often get what you pay for. Heirloom albums have archival quality and seamless bindings. Meaning, you and your loved ones can flip through your album for generations without being worried that it will start to fall apart. Online album companies that pop up all the time are an inferior product that is prone to damage over time and not built to withstand the constant wear and tear.
(and the most important) Your First Family Heirloom
Your wedding album is a tangible reminder of the vows you made to one another on your wedding day. Sometimes it’s the only tangible memory that reminds couples of the moment they said “I do”. It is a tangible reminder of one of the sweetest days of your life. It’s a tangible reminder of your legacy that you can pass down through generations. It’s the thing that you can pick up off the coffee table, years down the road, and remember how you felt on your wedding day.
I hope that this has helped you uncover the reasons wedding albums are so dang important. Some of my sweetest moments with my family are ones looking through albums and seeing my loved ones passion, love and zest for life. And, I cannot wait to hear from you the memories that your album has helped create with your loved ones.
