Big Cottonwood Canyon Engagement

So excited to finally be blogging MaKenna and RJ’s Big Cottonwood Canyon engagement session in Utah from this past October! I traveled to Utah in October to photograph their engagement session and it did not disappoint! It was a great excuse to explore all Utah has to offer and shoot at the famous Big Cottonwood Canyon! When I told a previous client, Kasey, I was going to be in Utah visiting family, she instantly connected me with her friend, MaKenna who recently got engaged. I mean what is better than an afternoon that includes the mountains and two people in love? If you can come up with something, I will buy you Starbucks for a month.
During MaKenna and RJ’s Big Cottonwood Canyon engagement session, we frolicked through the mountain in legit frigid temperatures. I seriously still do not understand how Utah photographer’s brave those temperatures on the daily. I learned that “empty fields” in Utah may also be marshes and you will sink in freezing cold water. Also, during their engagement session, we were standing on this dock enjoying a quiet moment when I spotted a ‘creature’ popping up out of the water. I think I may have let out a small scream and I about died of a heart attack. I had NEVER seen a wild Beaver before.
Throughout our whole time together, MaKenna and RJ were so adventurous they didn’t bat an eye to any of my ideas. They reminisced about dancing in parking lots to boy bands, smothered each other with kisses, and whispered reasons why they loved each other into their ears. MaKenna and RJ’s engagement session at Big Cottonwood Canyon was definitely the frosting on the cake to my Utah vacation. I cannot wait to be able to go back. The next Utah based location my heart is yearning to do a session at is Zion or Bryce Canyon.
